CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist - PRN

Position summary:  To select, prepare and administer anesthetic agents administered in management of anesthetic care in the Operating Room.

Role qualifications: 

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesiologist Education Programs or its predecessor.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or its respective predecessors or successors or, if pending initial certification, evidence of graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of anesthesia care in acute setting experience preferred.

      Licenses/Certificate 

  • Valid state RN License (must meet education requirement (s) for MO state licensure)
  • Valid state APRN Recognition (must meet education requirement (s) for MO state recognition and obtain within six (6) months of hire)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association

Position responsibilities:

  • Obtaining, preparing, and using all equipment, monitors, supplies, and medications for the administration of general and regional anesthesia and sedation techniques; performing anesthesia equipment safety checks
  • Performing and managing regional anesthetic techniques including, but not limited to subarachnoid, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks; intravenous regional anesthesia; topical, transtracheal, and local infiltration blocks.
  • Performs tracheal intubation and extubation, airway management.
  • Provides mechanical ventilation.
  • Performs venous and arterial punctures, obtains blood samples.
  • Performs or orders equipment safety checks as needed.
  • Cleans and sterilizes equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of needed equipment adjustments/repairs.

  •  Strong patient assessment skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, customer service, adaptability, and change management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing PC applications
  • Supervision and management of staff and students rotating within the anesthesia service.
  • Quality improvement activities and education.
  • Medical staff member
