MEDICAL BILLER - Patient Accounts

Full Time - Days

Position Summary: Filing and follow-up of claims on a timely basis by utilizing in depth knowledge of industry standards.

Experience

• Hospital billing experience preferred

      Licenses/Certificate

• None

Position Responsibilities:

• File claims and follow-up for all Commercial, Champ-VA/Veterans, Workman’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle accident, Funds/Black Lung accounts, and Medicare secondary
• Process all liability claims with lien letter unless they have health insurance
• Become knowledgeable with electronic claims software and Insurance portals, and Insurance contracts
• Review and follow-up on all Insurance and Medicare secondary remits
• Call Insurance, attorneys, and Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance companies regarding status of claims
• Work monthly ATB aging summary reports, to reduce accounts receivable
• Answer questions that patients may have regarding Insurance, Motor Vehicle Accident, and Medicare secondary claims
• Take appropriate action on correspondence received from Insurance companies, Wok Comp, and Motor Vehicle Accident company
• Follow up on work queues
• Become familiar with other jobs within department
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
