Medicare Biller - Patient Accounts


Position summary:  Responsible for filing and follow-up of claims on a timely basis by utilizing in depth knowledge of government rules and regulations.

General purpose:  Time management, customer service, problem resolution

  Role qualifications:


  • High school graduate


  • Hospital billing experience preferred


  • None


Position responsibilities:

  • File claims and follow-up for all Medicare and supplemental claims
  • Become knowledgeable with electronic software along with the Medicare remote
  • Audit claims before filing, document on what has been done on each account
  • Review Medicare remittances as they are posted
  • Answer questions that patients may have regarding claims
  • Take appropriate action on correspondence received from companies
  • Become familiar with other jobs within department and help cover evening/weekend positions
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
  • Print aging summary and work to reduce accounts receivables
  • Become knowledgeable with government regulations
  • Work holiday rotation and cover evening/weekend as needed
