REGISTERED NURSE- Emergency Room - Days
Full Time- Days - with Weekend Options
Position summary: To provide quality care to the sick and injured patients presenting to the Emergency Room and requesting treatment within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act. Coordinating care with other departments and other facilities as required, according to the patient’s needs.
Role qualifications:
Education
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
Experience
- 1 year nursing practice in acute care facility preferred but not required
- Open to Graduate Nurses
Licenses/Certificate
- Current Missouri State Registration
- Current BCLS required
- CurrentACLS required
- Current PALS preferred but not required
Position responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Emergency Department policies and procedures/protocols
- Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the pediatric, adult or elderly patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights
- Assess and treat any medical situation with appropriate techniques (resources and equipment) while maintaining the highest standard of patient care and professionalism according to current protocols and policies.
- Evaluates, records and communicates to the members of the health care team the patient’s physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and economic needs
- Monitor all equipment in the ED for proper functioning, reporting any problems to the ED director/Maintenance per policy
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, including monitoring adequate supply and restocking of necessary supplies
- Coordinate care of patients with EMS providers, Physicians, other departments, other facilities as needed
- Administers medications and initiates IVs as directed by the physician and allowed by licensure and Nurse Practice Act
- Performs the nursing procedures required for the physical and emotional comfort and safety of the patient
- Maintain current licensure and certifications for yourself and file in personnel file
- Maintains competencies in required emergency skills
- Assess continuing education needs and discuss plan with director
- Assess patient conditions, provide interventions as ordered, assure legible documentation of all treatments and observations
- Reassess patient conditions and document findings, including patients in the waiting room and offer emotional support as needed to patients and families
- Make sure that patients and their families are kept informed about results, patient status and/or any delays and document this information on the patient record
- Manage employees in a professional, respectful, and customer service-oriented manner, remembering that coworkers are also our customers
- Professional communication in all interactions including with coworkers in the department and interdepartmentally
